How to Remove Dog Hair From Car Carpets (The One Trick That Works)

Vacuum cleaner not doing squat against those short, stiff dog hairs embedded in your car carpet? I was ready to give up until I tried this weirdly simple grooming brush trick. It takes some muscle, but it actually works.

The single biggest regret of my life? Letting my heavy-shedding dog sit in the front passenger footwell. The entire area is lined with carpet, and to make matters worse, my dog has short, coarse hair. Those little needles pierce right into the fabric, and for the longest time, absolutely nothing worked to get them out.

But today? Today, I finally cracked the code! 🥳

I found a genius little hack that completely removes every single embedded hair. The only downside? It’s a bit of a workout. But the results are totally worth it.

Here’s What You’ll Need to Get Started

  • A slicker brush (a metal wire dog grooming brush)
  • A lint roller
  • A flashlight (or your phone light)

How to Get Every Last Hair Out (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Scrape at a 90-degree angle Hold the slicker brush perpendicular to the carpet and scrape hard in all directions. Don’t worry if the carpet fibers start looking a little fuzzy or frayed—we’ll fix that at the end.

Step 2: Lift and roll Once the brush pulls the embedded hair up to the surface of the carpet, use your lint roller to snap it all up.

Step 3: Clean up the fuzz Take a pair of scissors and trim off any excess fuzz or frayed carpet fibers that got pulled up during the scraping process.

And just like that, your car floors look brand new again!
